Calming Canine Anxiety: The Soothing Science Behind Our NeuroSync Technology

October 13, 2016

If you have a fearful Fido, you aren’t alone. Studies show that canine anxiety is a large and growing problem in the US, affecting as many as two thirds of all dogs. Stress can be triggered by a number of different situations – including thunderstorms, loud noises, separation, travel or veterinary visits – and manifest itself in a variety of different behaviors, ranging from panting, pacing, inappropriate urination, hiding, or digging, among others.

While a number of different treatment options are currently available today, all of them come with their own set of pros and cons. That’s why we’re proud to introduce our new drug-free, wearable solution for dogs suffering from anxiety. Launched in 2016, the CALMZ® Anxiety Relief System for Dogs has been clinically proven to reduce anxiety within minutes, thanks to our proprietary NeuroSync Technology.

What is NeuroSync Technology?

NeuroSync Technology combines a blend of vibration, music, compression and acupressure therapies into one wearable system. Each of these individual therapies have proven to be successful in reducing stress in animals, and the CALMZ® Anxiety Relief System is the first to incorporate all of these therapies into one system. During independent tests, this combination of therapies has helped increase blood flow to the brain and reduce adrenaline, helping to calm and relieve stress in dogs.

How Does it Work?

The CALMZ® Anxiety Relief System is comprised of two components: a multi-functional device and a comfort fit vest. The fully adjustable vest is designed to fit snug on your dog, producing a swaddle effect, while the device is held securely in a pouch on top of your dog’s spine and along acupressure points. When activated, the battery-operated device emits a proprietary blend of soothing classical music, mild vibration and low-frequency tones. The subtle vibrations feel similar to a gentle massage, while the calming classical music helps distract and relax your dog. The CALMZ® Anxiety Relief System features eight treatment settings, allowing you to adjust the vibration intensity, duration and repeat cycle variations based on your dog’s individual needs.

Scientifically Speaking

A dog’s nervous system is made up of the brain and spinal cord, along with nerves found all over the body. Together, they control the animal’s ability to experience various sensations and respond to them in different ways. The peripheral nervous system (PNS) is comprised of the nerves that emerge from the brain and spinal cord to supply sensation to the skin and control the muscles. The vestibular system is responsible for helping dogs maintain a normal sense of balance by providing the brain with vital information from components located in the dog’s inner and middle ear.

The CALMZ® Anxiety Relief System utilizes its NeuroSync Technology to stimulate both your dog’s vestibular and peripheral sensory nerves to deliver maximum anxiety relief:

  • The vestibular (audible) stimulation is created by blending low-frequency tuning fork tones with a modified version of Beethoven’s classical piece, Fur Elise.
  • The peripheral sensory stimulation comes from the massaging sensation your dog feels from the device when it is placed on known acupressure calming points along the spine, which results in a sense of being touched and caressed.

Veterinarian Tested, Dog Approved

Unlike some products that have been used to help reduce anxiety in dogs, the CALMZ® Anxiety Relief System has been tested, validated and proven to be effective. In clinical studies conducted by leading veterinary behavioral specialists, the CALMZ® Anxiety Relief System has demonstrated statistically significant reductions in negative behaviors associated with numerous anxiety triggers.
